Join us for Picnic with the Pops!

PWPSunsetFor two nights under the stars each August, Picnic with the Pops features our own Lexington Philharmonic with a special guest artist at Keeneland’s Meadow at Keene Barn.

image from lexpops.comThis year’s guest artist, Michael Cavanaugh, was named Corporate Entertainer of the Year for 2013 by Reuters. For Picnic with the Pops, Cavanaugh will perform The Songs of Elton John and More!

More from the Picnic website: ‘The dynamic set list for this show will feature creative reinterpretations of classic Elton John hits, interspersed with additional songs by rock & roll legends Wings, Styx, The Eagles and more.”

This year’s Picnic will be held on Friday, August 15th and Saturday, August 16th. Find out all of the details about Picnic with the Pops here. It should be a great show.

Whether homemade or catered, great food has always put the ‘picnic’ in Picnic with the Pops. In 2014 – for the first time – two gourmet food trucks (Fork in the Road and Minton’s at 760) will also serve food available for purchase during the event. Find out more about food options here.

Aaron Evans Joins Lowell’s

Photo 3We’re very pleased to announce that Aaron Evans has joined the Lowell’s team!

Aaron joins Lowell’s after retail assignments with J.C. Penney and Macy’s in Lexington, California, and Seattle, and we think he’ll be a big help in delivering an even better Lowell’s experience for you.

To start, you’ll see Aaron driving our shuttle and helping out around the shop. He’ll also be helping with a lot of behind-the-scenes efforts to improve the shop.

As he learns more about our business, he’ll also help out on the phone and at the front counter.

We have a reputation for delivering the very best automotive service in Lexington. We’ve made a lot of changes recently to ensure that we stay the best. Aaron will be a key part of these ongoing efforts.

If you run into Aaron, be sure to welcome him to the Lowell’s family!

Be our guest for Picnic with the Pops

PWPSunsetIf you’re like me, some of your earliest exposure to classical music was during Saturday morning cartoons.

I especially remember classic Looney Tunes episodes with Bugs Bunny: The Rabbit of Seville, for instance, or What’s Opera, Doc? (where Elmer Fudd sings “Kill the Wabbit” to Richard Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries).

Just hearing a few notes from these classics brings back fun childhood memories. I’ll bet that it does for many of you as well.

Now, you can relive those memories with a few of your friends from Lowell’s.

PWPBugsTowerFor two nights under the stars each August, Picnic with the Pops features our own Lexington Philharmonic with a special guest artist at Keeneland’s Meadow at Keene Barn.

This year’s special guest? None other than Bugs Bunny in a critically-acclaimed show that combines classic “Looney Tunes” cartoons with live music from the Philharmonic.

Following its premiere three weeks ago at the Hollywood Bowl, the Los Angeles Times called Bugs Bunny at the Symphony “a program that delights all ages.”

This year’s Picnic featuring Bugs will be on Friday, August 16th and Saturday, August 17th. Find out all of the details about Picnic with the Pops here. It should be a great show.

Tracy Briggs (Re)Joins Lowell’s

The Lowell’s family is growing! Tracy

We are thrilled to announce the return of a familiar face to Lowell’s.

Tracy Briggs, a long-time technician for Lowell’s and for Lexus of Lexington, returned to Lowell’s just yesterday!

We think Tracy will make a terrific addition to our already-terrific crew, and will help Lowell’s be even better and faster!

Please join us in welcoming Tracy back to Lowell’s!

What we did on winter break

Lobby1Small

While we were closed for the last week of 2011, we began to redecorate our lobby for 2012.

We unintentionally chose a color-shifting paint: it was supposed to be a neutral beige color, but in different lights, it can look gold, greenish, or peach.

In any case, the result – we hope – is a lighter, brighter, and more pleasant place to visit and to wait in.

Lobby2Small Lobby3SmallIn coming months, we’ll continue to update the decor at Lowell’s.

Please drop in and let us know what you think! (Or make an appointment online!)

Mitch Payton Joins Lowell’s

Facing a very busy summer season, we knew we’d need additional help working on vehicles at Lowell’s. And it was important for us to find an employee who’d help us build upon our award-winning culture.

So we had each potential technician interview with a group of Lowell’s employees to ensure that they would enhance how we do things here.

Mitch After that process, we are pleased to (belatedly) welcome Mitch Payton to the Lowell’s team.  Mitch joined us on April 1st.

Mitch is an accomplished dart player – He played professionally for about 5 years!  He also has twelve years of combined experience at Green’s Toyota in Lexington and Toyota South in Richmond.

But we won’t hold that against him.

All kidding aside, Mitch is a valuable addition to Lowell’s.  In addition to providing us with even deeper Toyota experience and expertise, Mitch is thorough and conscientious – qualities we hold dear here at Lowell’s.

We are very happy to add Mitch to our roster of stellar Lowell’s employees.

David Bullard Leaving Lowell’s

Mellow Mushroom Pizza BakersAfter nearly four years with Lowell’s in Lexington, David Bullard – one of our highly-skilled technicians – is returning to his hometown shop in Florence, Kentucky. While we are sad to see David leave, we really appreciate his contributions here over the past four years.

We’d love for you to help us say goodbye to David. This Friday, July 30th at noon, we’ll be having a pizza party at the shop, and we’re inviting our friends and customers to join us. We’ll be bringing in lots of Mellow Mushroom pizza for you (Kosmic Karma is David’s favorite), and – as always – you can get 5-cent Cokes from our machine.

Please join us as we bid farewell to one of our own.

We hope to see you this Friday,
Rob, Suzanne, and your Friends at Lowell’s
